LED light radiation safety national standards will be introduced soon
June 03, 2023
On November 1, the Working Group of LED Lighting Technology Standards of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held the National Standards Review Meeting for LED Light Radiation Safety in Hangzhou. The meeting approved the "LED Light Radiation Safety Part 1: Requirements and Grade Classification Method" and "LED Light Radiation Safety Part II: Test Methods" two standards.
In recent years, domestic LEDs have developed rapidly, and the entire industry has paid too much attention to the light efficiency, price and energy-saving effects of LEDs, and often overlooks the harm of LED light radiation. Developed countries such as Europe and the United States have long been concerned about the role of LED light radiation on the human body, and focus on reducing the harmfulness of the design of the luminaire. There are also a few enterprises and institutions in China that have paid close attention to the safety of LED light radiation. For example, China Electronics Technology Standardization Research Institute and China Saixi (Guangzhou) Laboratory have not only carried out a lot of related research, but also actively promoted LED light. The formulation of national standards for radiation safety guides and regulates the healthy development of the entire LED industry from the height of national standards.
In response to the current national standard for LED light radiation safety, Zhou Xi, director of China Saixi (Guangzhou) Laboratories pointed out that to understand the safety standard of optical radiation, it is first necessary to understand the principle of action of light radiation on the human body.
