BMW launched a remote display status of LED lights in the shape of a bird-wing solar charging station

      BMW and EIGHT Design have jointly developed a sustainable charging device. The solar charging station jointly launched by the two partner companies is now installed at the BMW Museum in Munich.

The shape of the charging station resembles an arched bird wing. With solar panels as the ceiling, the internal LED- based electrical lighting system can be interactively experienced with the user. When the user approaches the charging station, the color and brightness of the led light will change. The led lighting system can also tell people whether the charging station is occupied or idle.

The charging station's integrated touch display displays vehicle-related information such as current battery life, safety information prior to start-up, and charging methods. It also tells the user how long the car's battery can last, and when and where it needs to be charged. The charging station collects solar energy to charge the car, and also re-transmits the energy that is not used on weekdays back to the transmission grid.
